Star in a Million Season 1 champion Erik Santos has already proven many things ever since the beginning of his singing career. The competition's wildcard contestant ended up with a big win after beating Sheryn Regis, the consistent top finalist, stirring up a controversy among the viewers and fans. All this aside, it was truly Erik's night--his triumphant moment.

Fast-forward three years after his win, Erik has undoubtedly become one of the country's top-selling artists. With multi-platinum albums, and a third one doing extremely well in terms of sales, there's nothing else this certified pop prince could ever wish for.

His journey to stardom was no bed of roses, as he continuously treads on a path full of intrigues and merciless gossip. Like most young male stars today, Erik has become, and still is, a victim of intrigues relating to gender. Even after news of his relationship with sexy comedienne Rufa Mae Quinto came out, many still do not find their love convincing.

Intrigues aside, Erik's fans, who call themselves ESFO (Erik Santos Friends Online), have shown their unending support for their prince over the years. Evidently, their efforts remain untainted, considering Erik's achievements in various charts, not to mention his very successful concerts and albums.

With the release of his third album in 2006 entitled "Your Love," Erik brings back the hits of the 90's with his distinctive vocal character. The album's carrier single bearing the same title consistently topped the charts, and two of his other songs have been chosen as themes for ABS-CBN's TV series, "Maging Sino Ka Man," and "Sana Maulit Muli." Surely, Erik's third album will be as big of a hit as his previous three.

What could be in store for Erik this 2007? Hopefully, if given the chance, I would love to see Erik try his hand at acting. Some say he has already been given acting offers, but sadly, Erik just ends up turning them down. Until now, his top priority still remains to be singing. But to heighten one's versatility in this industry, an artist should gradually experiment in different fields. Who knows, Erik may turn out to be a really good actor and find himself in numerous box-office hit movies.

Well, whatever happens, I am pretty sure ESFO will do a great job in keeping Erik's career at its peak. Let's hope that 2007 will be a great year for this balladeer!
